This garden was designed to be "An Artist's Garden" with an eclectic series of outdoor rooms woven together by a common color palette of greens, grays, blues, purples, yellows & corals. The owner is a painter of flowers, landscapes & still lifes, and the garden provides her with outdoor studio space, as well as a series of trellises to display her paintings. Her art will be on display for the tour.

Each outdoor room serves a different purpose: the kitchen garden for dining and food production, the art gallery/playground garden for strolling, sitting and playing, the Zen garden for meditation and reflection, and the front garden for watching birds and visiting with passing neighbors. The rooms are connected by a series of pervious paths and paving with benches and seating along the way. While this garden is relatively small, it contains 4 fountains that are never viewed together and has a large collection of tasteful and artistic garden art displayed throughout.

This water-wise garden features Mediterranean and native plants throughout, including phormiums, ornamental grasses, leucadendrons and salvias.  The lawn has been eliminated, and plants are grouped by water needs. The garden was installed with  efficient irrigation for each hydrozone, a smart controller, mycorrhizal application to the roots at planting time, sheet mulching to eliminate weeds and mulch to help the soil retain its moisture.  Compost tea is appied semi-annually to feed the plants and soil foodweb.
