Blessed with a green thumb, an artistic eye, 15 years of hands-on experience in the garden and a perfect last name, Marcia Bloom launched In Bloom Garden Design in 2001.  Prior to founding In Bloom, she spent fifteen years in professional financial management roles as financial analyst, banker and treasurer, giving her a unique blend of business acumen and creativity.

While acting as general contractor to landscape her own home in Menlo Park, Marcia first discovered that she could integrate her career and her passion for gardening. Drawing upon this experience and management of the rebuilding process for her home in southern California after the 1994 Northridge earthquake, she brings to clients a keen ability to prioritize tasks, source materials, and help select contractors without compromising quality or the essentials of good design.

Gardens are my passion. I design outdoor spaces that are beautiful, functional and provide vital retreats where we can reconnect with nature, each other and ourselves. - Marcia Bloom
Marcia holds two degrees from UCLA: a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance from the Anderson School.  In preparation for her second career, she completed coursework at Foothill College's Environmental Horticulture and Design Program and continues her landscape design education through professional design workshops and periodic course offerings at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Filoli & Gamble Gardens.

Marcia was an active leader in the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD™) planning Peninsula District programs from 2005-2006, served as Peninsula District President from 2006-2007, and served on the California Chapter Board from 2007-2008.
